Delightful Descriptions Of Believers

God sees greater differences between unbelievers and believers than we mortals can fathom. We are frequently surprised by the things that unbelievers cannot or will not understand. It can be difficult to remember that we once were what they still are. It can help our shortsightedness if we do our best to remember how greatly He changed us when He saved us and study what He says about the differences. I have come to love descriptions like upside down and peculiar. They are not exaggerations. They are understatements. Shocking descriptions of the changes God makes when He saves us are now delightful because they were so desperately needed.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Jeremiah 17:5-6: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

Micah 3:1-2a: And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? 2 Who hate the good, and love the evil;

Isaiah 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Acts 17:6: And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

Isaiah 29:16: Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter*s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Titus 2:14: Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1 John 3:14a: We know that we have passed from death unto life, . . .

1 John 3:1: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

I love what Abigail said about David and especially that it describes ALL believers, including me.

1 Samuel 25:29b: . . . the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; . . .

Psalms 55:19: God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
